About Taking Things Personally

My mom originally started Taking Things Personally in 1990 to help a couple of friends order event invitations. She worked one-on-one with each client to create distinguishing stationary and invitations that complimented their personality and events. Her one-on-one personal attention to each client helped create a niche in the invitation industry. Unfortunately, Taking Things Personally closed briefly when she passed away after an 8-year battle with breast cancer.

Two years ago, I decided Taking Things Personally must live-on. Not only in honor of my mother’s memory, but also because of the time and care she put into this business. My mom not only helped her clients with important steps in planning their events, she also put her heart and soul into ensuring that she met and exceeded each customer’s expectations. In addition, with years of helping my mom with her business, and a Masters in Business, I learned the professional and organizational skills necessary to provide exceptional customer service and knowledge of stationery, invitations and personalized gifts.

With so many friends and relatives spread across the country, wanting to order from Taking Things Personally, I realized there was an opportunity to expand Taking Things Personally and build an e-commerce site. But, I didn't want to mimic any other site. I wanted to create a stationery, invitation and personalized gift Web site that offered unprecedented customer service, unique products, a vast product variety and above all, give back to the community.

In honor of my mom, Taking Things Personally will donate a portion of each order to Concern Foundation for cancer research. Since 1968, Concern Foundation has raised well over $41 million dollars to cultivate outstanding young scientists and to sustain the progress in prevention and treatment of cancer. Concern Foundation is a rarity in the non-profit world, as it maintains an administrative overhead of 5% or less. About $.95 cents of every $1 goes toward research. This is made possible by remaining primarily volunteer driven

At Taking Things Personally, we believe that every event, Thank You note, Save-the-Date announcement and even each letter on personalized stationary has a story…we’re here to help you tell yours. With our commitment to excellence, we take it personally if you are not 100% satisfied.

Warm regards,

Marni Glick, M.B.A
